Task Support

ADL’s, or activities of daily living, refer to the specific daily tasks that children and adults need to perform to be functional for their developmental age. These tasks can include getting dressed, grooming oneself, eating, moving about and more. As Occupational Therapists, we are skilled in analyzing a task, and grading a task down (making it easier) or grading a task up (giving a child an appropriate level of challenge) for the purpose of providing the “just right” amount of therapeutic support for a child to accomplish the task. Our ADL task breakdown sheets can provide guidance, and language to help you support your child with mastering the sequence and small steps that make up daily tasks; thus, fostering independence with their daily routines. We recognize that people learn in different ways and can benefit from support in different formats (ie visual learners, auditory learners, etc). Therefore, for each task that we break down, you will find several versions and formats of the same task.  Our pdfs come in a general form, (which is a great place to start), a simplified version, as well as an advanced version. Follow for a new ADL sheet released each month. Also, check out our Tik Tok account for the video versions of each ADL worksheet. Reach out for questions and/or requests for ADLs not listed.
